Street Fashion - Brighton!

Shot on Provia100f and cross processed

whilst on recent trip to Brighton I wanted to continue my mini that started at London fashion weekend. So I stopped individuals whose style/outfits stuck out to me as being expressive/inspiring in some way. Speaking to people as I took their pictures I realised they learnt always as outgoing and confident as their ‘look’ would have you believe. I really liked the way that people seemed to be using their clothing as a medium to express themselves in a similar way that I use photography.

Whilst I was at London Fashion Weekend I decided to try something new and took some ‘street style/fashion blog’ style images I often gather inspiration from outfits/styles I see when I’m out and it was nice to actually record it in photographs.

London fashion Weekend ...

I was lucky enough to be given the amazing opportunity of being able to go into the photographers pit during TheOutnet.com's show at London fashion weekend thanks to cannon. I really enjoyed the experience, it was my first time doing anything like this but I really loved it.

the rest of my images are on my tumblr - http://jessierosephotography.tumblr.com

Over the summer I was asked to do a 'fashion style' shoot with a girl who had seen some of the work I had done perviously for models portfolio's. She wanted the images to be woodland/vintage themed so firstly I got a mood board together on Pinterest to show her some of the ideas I had and so we could work together to find what would suit us both ...

These are two of the images I got during the shoot.

Hollywood Lighting continued...

This is the image that I chose to base my own attempts at using hollywood style lighting on ...

I really liked how the shadow contrasts with the harsh light on the rest of the face creating a more dramatic effect. However I think that although the lighting is actually very harsh for a female subject this isn't the mood that it creates, Because of the way she is looking up into the light and the expression she is using it gives more of a innocent and thoughtful look.

Because I was using constant lighting instead of strobe lighting I could see the exact effect it would be creating on the face as I moved the lights with out having to fire a flash to test. However this did mean that the lights got very hot quickly so moving the 'barn doors' had to be done as quickly as possible.
